Chhattisgarh anniversary event starts, Jogi boycotts
November 1st, 2011 - 10:22 pm ICT by IANSRaipur, Nov 1 (IANS) Chhattisgarh Governor Shekhar Dutt Tuesday formally inaugurated a five-day state foundation anniversary celebration here, but former chief minister Ajit Jogi kept away.
But several opposition leaders included Jogi skipped the inaugural, saying the government was spending too much money on the event.
A series of cultural programmes will be held here and in all 18 districts till Saturday.
The government will give away awards to leading personalities of the state. This would include Indian women’s hockey team captain Saba Anjum.
Chhattisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh on Nov 1, 2000.
