Change in Maharashtra too after next polls: Bal Thackeray
May 13th, 2011 - 11:26 pm ICT by IANS
Mumbai, May 13 (IANS) Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray Friday expressed happiness over the change of governments in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu and urged the people of Maharashtra to “prepare for a change in government in the state after the next assembly elections”.
In a statement here, the Sena chief said that given the winds of change leading to the outcome of the assembly elections in the two states, the people of Maharashtra must also get ready for a change in government in view of the Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party-Republican Party of India alliance.
“The outcome in the two states portends good news for our alliance. The Congress-Nationalist Congress Party Democratic Front government will also face its ‘Panipat’ in the next Assembly elections. People of Maharashtra, get ready!” Thackeray exhorted.
The SS-BJP-RPI alliance plans to throw the first combined challenge to the Congress-led government with a rally June 9, protesting against corruption, price rise and injustice to the poor people.
The RPI faction, led by Ramdas Athawale, has joined hands with the BJP-Sena combine and plans to announce a formal alliance by October, much before the scheduled civic body elections early-2012.
