Chand Mohammed in hospital with multiple fractures
July 8th, 2009 - 8:41 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 8 (IANS) Chand Mohammed, the former Haryana deputy chief minister, was admitted to a hospital here with multiple fractures and hip dislocation, sources close to his family said Wednesday.
Chand Mohammed, who has been in the midst of controversy since last year when he converted to Islam and got married to Anuradha Bali, the additional advocate general in Haryana, was admitted to the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital Tuesday evening.
The sources said that Mohammed, known earlier as Chander Mohan, was admitted to the hospital at 5.20 p.m. Tuesday. They said he had a fall and had sustained injuries. “An x-ray was done yesterday and a CT scan was carried out today,” the source said.
The CT scan revealed that Mohammed had multiple fractures and hip dislocation.
“He has been admitted to the surgical ICU and has a lot of injuries,” the source said.
Harendra Tandon, senior consultant orthopedic at the hospital, is treating him. “His injuries are such that he would take at least a month to recover fully,” the source added.
Mohammed was brought to the hospital by his mother.
“Chander Mohan, former Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, was admitted at the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital yesterday evening,” the hospital said in a statement Wednesday.
Mohammed and Bali, who changed her name to Fiza, had secretly got married in November last year though he was already married to Seema Bishnoi and had three children from her. Chander Mohan is a son former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal.
Both surfaced after their marriage in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut city December last year. After a nearly 40-day stay together, Chander Mohan suddenly left her house and was later traced in London.
Adding drama to the controversial marriage, Chander Mohan then gave her ‘divorce’ over phone and through SMS in February. But in June, he apologised to her and started living with her in her house in Mohali, a town adjoining Chandigarh.
It was not known how and where Mohammed sustained the injuries.
