Caroline Giuliani Taken Into Custody For Shoplifting

carolineAug 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Caroline Giuliani, the daughter of former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani was taken into custody yesterday on suspicion of shop lifting cosmetic materials from Sephora Store at East 86th Street near Lexington. She was charged with stealing five cosmetic materials which valued around $100. However, Sephora store officials refused to comment on the matter when they were asked about the incident.

Caroline Giuliani who is a student of Harvard University was caught on security cameras lifting cosmetics from the shop. The store security and salesperson who observed the incident asked her to stop immediately. The officials then called police and then she was taken away by the officials. However, after her identity was revealed before the shop owners, they declined press charges on her. Detective Martin Speechley said that Caroline Giuliani will be charged with “petit larceny.” The Giuliani family was not found for any comments, only the spokesperson issued a statement on behalf of former Mayor, asking the media to respect privacy of Caroline Giuliani as the whole issue is personal for the family.

Caroline Giuliani left police station two hours after her arrest with her mother Donna Hanovar. The attorney of the alleged shop lifter, Michael Bachner also declined to comment saying that the matter is personal and it is inappropriate to say anything while the case is in legal process. The media is speculating if the daughter of the former mayor will be prosecuted as the Manhattan District Attorney Office refused to comment anything about the case. Even the attorney said that the family will not make any further comment about the matter.
