New Delhi, April 28 (IANS) Campaigning for Thursday’s third phase of the staggered Lok Sabha elections came to an end Tuesday evening in nine states and two union territories.
Polling is to be held in 107 constituencies in Bihar, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat and Sikkim, besides the union territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu.
There are 14.4 crore eligible voters and 1,567 candidates, including 101 women, for the third phase, the Election Commission said Tuesday.
Electioneering also ended for 32 seats of the Sikkim assembly which simultaneously go to polls Thursday.
Polling for the two phases was held April 16 and April 23. Balloting for two more phases is scheduled for May 7 and 13.
