New Delhi, Dec 15 (IANS) The Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs is to discuss the political situation arising out of the Telangana statehood issue late Tuesday evening, an official said.
The meeting, being held at the residence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, is expected to look at ways to resolve the impasse.
The government said Monday that there will be no forward movement on the Telangana issue until the Andhra Pradesh assembly passes a resolution.
Home Minister P. Chidambaram’s announcement last week giving tentative go-ahead to a separate state for Telangana region has led to sharp political divisions in the state, including within the Congress, with lawmakers from the Andhra and Rayalaseema regions protesting the proposed division of the state.
