Cabinet rejig: Patnaik sore over no Orissa face
July 12th, 2011 - 11:00 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, July 12 (IANS) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik criticised the Congress-led central government for not appointing anyone from the state as a cabinet minister in Tuesday’s ministerial reshuffle.
“It is sad,” Patnaik told reporters. “Whenever there is a Congress or Congress-led government at the centre, Orissa does not get appropriate representation.”
Srikant Jena, the lone face from the state, who is serving as the minister of state (MoS) in the chemicals and fertilisers ministry, was given the additional portfolio of the ministry of statistics and programme implementation as an MoS with independent charge.
Jena did not attend the swearing-in ceremony in New Delhi.
