Cabinet discusses federal probe agency: official

Manmohan SinghNew Delhi, Dec 15 (IANS) The union cabinet at its meeting here Monday evening was understood to be discussing a bill to create a federal investigating agency, an official said.The cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, began at 6.30 p.m. and considered the bill that would be tabled in the ongoing parliament session, the official said.

An all-party meeting, held this month in the wake of the Nov 26 Mumbai terrorist attacks, had proposed to set up a federal investigating agency.

Home Minister P. Chidambaram is likely to brief the media on the cabinet meet around 9 p.m., the official said.
