Jan 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The unexpected move of veteran Democrat Senator Byron Dorgan has given the Republican party members a wonderful opportunity to reserve his Senate seat in the coming elections. As per the latest report, Senator Byron Dorgan has declared that he would retire and will not run for the re-election scheduled in fall. The decision of the North Dakota Senator has improved the chances of the Republicans in the coming election as recent survey indicated that Republicans have better hopes than Democrats in the region.
While the Republicans are happy with the decision of Senator Byron Dorgan, it does not appear that the Democrats have been satisfied with his plan of retirement. When asked about the reason of retirement, Senator Byron Dorgan said that he needs to pursue some works other than politics and so he decided to call it quits. He added that his decision does not have any relation with the tough election that is awaiting this year. During the interview, he said that he has no grievances against the party and hopes that Democrats will fare well in the election. The Senator expressed his confidence about the President’s policies for the development of the country.
Though the survey reports indicate that registered voters have preferred Republicans than the Democrats for the coming election, Byron Dorgan was confident and said he would have been re-elected if he had not decided to quit. The Democrats, who are now enjoying a 60 seat majority in Senate will lose this if they fail to win the North Dakota seat. No one from the Democrat party has made any comment on the sudden retirement decision of Byron Dorgan.
