By-polls for two Uttar Pradesh seats Nov 20 (Lead)
October 18th, 2010 - 7:28 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 18 (IANS) By-polls in two assembly constituencies of Uttar Pradesh will be held Nov 20, the Election Commission announced Monday.
Counting of votes for the two constituencies, Nidhauli Kalan (in Etah district) and Lakhimpur will be held Nov 23, it said.
While the date of issuing of notification is Oct 23, the last date for making nominations is Oct 30. Scrutiny will be held Nov 1, while the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is Nov 3.
“The commission has decided to use EVMs (electronic voting machines) in these by-elections in all the polling stations,” the statement said.
The model code of conduct has also come into force with immediate effect, it added.
