New Delhi, Jan 19 (IANS) West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee Wednesday met union Home Minister P. Chidambaram here to discuss the violence between Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) and the Trinamool Congress workers in the state.Bhattacharjee later told reporters outside North Block that he had “a good meeting” with Chidambaram.
The union home ministry had written to the chief minister requesting him to visit New Delhi to discuss the law and order situation in the poll-bound state following the Jan 7 killings of seven people in political violence at Netai village in the Maoist stronghold of West Midnapore district.
Bhattacharjee, who arrived here Tuesday, is also expected to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh later in the day and discuss the political situation in the state, particularly the state’s ruling CPI-M’s allegation that Trinamool Congress workers have links with Maoists in West Bengal.
