Kolkata, Feb 13 (IANS) Asserting that his government will not allow the division of West Bengal, Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee Sunday accused the Trinamool Congress of colluding with pro-Gorkhaland group Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) with an eye on the coming assembly polls.Addressing a mammoth Left Front rally here, Bhattacharjee said: “They (GJM activists) have created a mess in the Darjeeling Hills by damaging the roads and setting afire vehicles. They want to wean Darjeeling from our state.”
“But we will not bow down to their demands and won’t allow any partition of Bengal,” said Bhattacharjee, who is also a politburo member of Left Front leader Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M).
The chief minister accused the Trinamool Congress of joining pro-Gorkhaland activists.
“Trinamool Congress is keeping mum on the Darjeeling issue because the pro-Gorkhaland activists are their new friends.
“Keeping an eye on the upcoming assembly election in the state, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee is not uttering any word against the pro-Gorkhaland activists, as her party will contest in the hills by forging an alliance with them,” said Bhattacharjee.
The Bimal Gurung-led GJM has been leading the renewed Gorkhaland agitation for over two years by sidelining the Gorkha National Liberation Front, which had been spearheading the movement since the 1980s.
