Lucknow, March 21 (IANS) The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate from Santkabirnagar Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh and two politicians of the Samjawadi Party have been booked for defying the model code of conduct by giving money to people at a religious function, an official said Saturday.
“A case has been registered against the BSP nominee Bheeshm Shankar Tiwari alias Kushal Tiwari, for giving money to people at a religious gathering,” Sub Divisional Magistrate Nagendra Nath Dwivedi told IANS over telephone.
Tiwari and two others, including former Samajwadi Party MP B.C. Yadav and legislator Dashrath Chauhan, have been charged for violation of poll conduct at a religious function March 7, he said.
He said the case against the three politicians was registered Friday evening. Santkabirnagar is 300 km from here.
“A detailed report about the violation of the election code will soon be sent to the State Election Commission,” said Dwivedi.
