New Delhi, April 18 (IANS) A city court Saturday granted bail to Haji Dilshad Ali, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) nominee for the Northeast Delhi seat, who was arrested for an attack on a police station.
Ali filed his nomination from Tihar Jail this morning.
Additional Sessions Judge B.S. Chumbak granted interim bail to Ali on furnishing a personal and surety bond of Rs.10,000 each.
The court freed Ali on bail till April 22 on the ground that he was to appear before poll officials for completing the formalities of filing nomination papers.
Ali’s wife Shakeera Begum submitted the nomination papers before the returning officer as he had signed them from the jail Friday.
The BSP candidate was sent to judicial custody for 14 days after he was arrested on April 16 on the charge of inciting a mob to throw stones at the Bhajanpura police station during a protest demanding the arrest of two people in a murder case.
