Britain to continue its support to Libya: Cameron

London, Sep 6 (IANS) British Prime Minister David Cameron has said that though the future of Libya belongs to its people, Britain would continue its support to the North African country.
Cameron said this in a statement to parliament Monday on the latest situation in Libya, Xinhua reported.
The prime minister said the task of the international community now is to support the Libyan people in reconstruction efforts.
“That means helping to finish the job, ensuring security, helping to address the immediate humanitarian needs and supporting the Libyan people as they lead the longer-term process of reconstruction and political transition,” Cameron said.
The prime minister said Britain and its NATO allies would continue to implement the UN Security Council’s resolutions for “as long as we are needed to protect civilian life”.
Britain would also help bring Muammar Gaddafi to justice, he said.
“I also look forward to building a bilateral relationship with the new Libyan authority. We have close relations with the NTC through our mission in Benghazi,” he said.
