New Delhi/Bangaloe, Nov 19 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party will hear land scam hit Karnataka Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa and decide within two days next steps, a senior leader said late Thursday.
This decision was taken at BJP’s core committee meeting, leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley told reporters in Delhi.
“We decided to talk to the Karnataka chief minister and other important state leaders in a day or two. After that if we have something to tell, we will do,” Jaitley said.
Besides Jaitley the meeting was attended among others by party president Nitin Gadkari, senior leader L. K. Advani, leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, former party presidents Rajnath Singh and M. Venkaiah Naidu and general secretary and Bangalore South Lok Sabha member H. N. Ananth Kumar.
Apparently the senior leaders wanted to hear Yeddyurappa’s version on charges of favoured land allotments to his kin late Thursday itself but for reasons not given the discussion was cancelled.
Yeddyurappa was all set to fly to Delhi after a cabinet meeting in Bangalore that decided to order a probe by a retired Supreme Court judge into all land deals in and around Bangalore in the last ten years.
State BJP chief K. S. Eshwrappa was also to fly with him.
However, at the last minute Yeddyurappa cancelled the visit.
The chief minister’s office which had confirmed that Yeddyurappa was leaving for Delhi later said he has cancelled the visit.
