BJP names Rajya Sabha candidates from Bihar, Karnataka

New Delhi, June 13 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday named its candidates for the forthcoming elections to the Rajya Sabha from Bihar and Karnataka. “Rajiv Pratap Rudy will be our candidate for the lone seat from Bihar, while in Karnataka M. Rama Jois and B. Prabhakara Kore will be the candidates,” said Ananth Kumar, BJP general secretary.

Rudy, who hails from Bihar and had contested unsuccesfully against Railway Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad, was tipped to get the ticket this time. He is also the party spokesperson.

The names of four candidates for Karnataka’s legislative council were also announced. These are: state home minister V.S. Acharya, BJP state Schedule Tribe morcha president Siddaraju, BJP state executive committee member N. Shankarappa, and BJP state mahila morcha president Bharathi Shetty.
