BJP Expels Jaswant Singh For Praising Jinnah In His Book

Jaswant SinghThe Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) expelled one of their prime leaders, Jaswant Singh from the party on Wednesday for praising Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, in his new book called “Jinnah - India, Partition, Independence”. The BJP party officials reportedly said that Jaswant Singh had reportedly violated the party’s ideologies.

The book “does not represent the views of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Infact the party completely dissociates from the contents of the book,” the BJP said on their website. The decision of sacking Jaswant Singh, a Lok Sabha member and a former Union Minister, took place in ‘chintan baithak’ or introspection meeting which was being held in Shimla.

The reports were confirmed by the BJP party president Rajnath Singh, who told the reporters that the party’s parliamentary board decided to expel Jaswant Singh from the primary membership of the party. “I had issued a statement yesterday saying that the party fully dissociates itself from the contents of the book. Today I put up the matter in ront of the parliamentary board which decided to end his primary membership,” Rajnath said to the reporters while explaining the veteran leader’s expulsion from the party. “So he has been expelled. From now onwards he will not be a member of any body of the party or be an office bearer,” Rajnath added. Rajnath Singh also said that he had asked Jaswant Singh not to attend the “chintan baithak” that was going on in Shimla.

The harsh decision that had befallen on the veteran member of the party has surprised many.

Reacting to his expulsion from the party Jaswant Singh had reportedly said that he is deeply saddened by the party’s decision for expelling him on the stances of praising Jinnah.
