New Delhi, Oct 18 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday alleged that the central government, Delhi government and Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi were equally guilty of irregularities and delay in preparations for the mega event and the roles of all the three should be probed.
“The way in which the feud between Suresh Kalmadi and Sheila Dikshit has come out in the open, has reinforced the party’s stand that there has been widespread corruption in the Games,” BJP spokesman Tarun Vijay said Monday.
He said: “Dikshit was equally guilty along with the central government of irregularities and our party will not accept scapegoat politics.”
He demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee( JPC) probe into the corruption allegations regarding the Games.
“The Shunglu committee should look into the work done by the Prime Minister’s Office, Delhi government and Commonwealth games Organising Committee,” he said.
The high-level V.K. Shunglu committee was appointed by Prime minister Manmohan Singh last week to look into the conduct and organisation of Commonwealth Games in the wake of widespread allegations.
