New Delhi, Nov 22 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has complained to the Election Commission that the Jharkhand government had given wrong co-ordinates to the pilot of a helicopter carrying L.K. Advani and NDA convenor Sharad Yadav endangering their lives during an election tour in Maoist-affected areas.
BJP vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who filed the complaint, Sunday said Advani and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) convenor Sharad Yadav were in Jharkhand Saturday to address poll rallies in Jamtar, Godda and Deoghar districts.
Their helicopter took off at around 11 a.m. from Bokaro for Nalla area in Jamtara district.
“The pilot flew as per the co-ordinates given by the district administration of Jamtara. But they were absolutely wrong. Due to this, for around 45 minutes the helicopter with Advani and Sharad Yadav kept hovering over Naxal-infested area. When the helicopter’s fuel was about to finish, the pilot was forced to land at Godda,” Naqvi said in his letter to the poll panel.
“Due to this carelessness of district administration, safety and life of important leaders was put in danger. It seems that the incident was intentional,” he complained.
