New Delhi, April 26 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) condemned a young man’s attempt to hurl a shoe at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during an election rally in Ahmedabad Sunday.
“We condemn it outright. This is not part of a democratic campaign. We have also condemned what happened with (Home Minister P.) Chidambaram and we are repeating the same in case of the prime minister,” BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told the CNN-IBN news channel.
“I am quite sure that police will take appropriate action, which needs to be taken,” he added.
A man, identified as Hitesh Chauhan, flung a shoe at Manmohan Singh when he was addressing a rally at the Sanskar Kendra, but the white sneaker landed more than 20 feet away. Chauhan was whisked away by security personnel.
