BJD to support women’s reservation bill
March 6th, 2010 - 9:48 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, March 6 (IANS) Orissa’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Saturday said it would support the Women’s Reservation Bill that the Rajya Sabha will take up for consideration and passing March 8.
“The BJD will support 33 percent reservation for women in parliament and in the assemblies,” BJD chief and Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said on the sidelines of a meeting in Keonjhar.
“The BJD has always stood up for the rights of women and we will certainly support reservations for women,” he added.
Law Minister Veerappa Moily will move the bill in the Rajya Sabha Monday, which is International Women’s Day.
