New Delhi, Sep 7 (IANS) A constitutional amendment bill introduced by Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde in the Lok Sabha Friday seeks to establish a special development board for six most backward districts of Karnataka.

Besides ensuring equitable allocation of funds for the development of the region, which consists of the erstwhile Hyderabad-Karnataka areas of the state, the bill also aims to provide special status to these districts in areas like employment and education, officials said here.

The bill seeks to accelerated development of the region, promote inclusive growth and reduce inter-district disparities, according to officials.

Earlier, the Karnataka assembly had passed a resolution in 2010 to make special provisions for the six most backward districts of Gulbarg, Bidar, Raichur, Koppal, Yadgir and Bellary.
