Washington, July 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Bill Maher has caused quite a stir by comparing the outcome of Casey Anthony’s case to “Republican thinking.” Maher made the comment when he appeared on HBO’s Real Time last Friday night.

Maher explained why he decided to make the comparison. On the show, the comedian said that, “[Half of American voters] say ‘I’m with the party that cuts all these programs for real people, for the 99 percent. Planned Parenthood, environmental protection, college, health care, infrastructure, but holds the line on private jets.’ Voting for them is as stupid as voting not guilty for the mom who lost her baby for a month and went looking at a wet t-shirt contest.”

Section of the American public were outraged with the outcome of the trial of Casey Anthony. Casey was charged with first degree murder involving the death of her two-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony. The jury returned the verdict of not guilty because of lack of evidence. Since the verdict was reached there have been death threats to Casey and her parents.

In 2002, ABC fired Maher from the show “Politically Incorrect” for making controversial comments regarding US’s war on terrorism. He described the US’s approach to the war as “cowardly”.
