New York, Feb 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Bill Clinton, the erstwhile President of the United States of America, was admitted to the hospital on Thursday in order to undergo operation for the removal of a blocked artery. He had been taken to the New York Presbyterian- Columbia University Medical Center. This is not the first time that he had been admitted due to heart problems. In 2004, he had to be admitted to the hospital in order to undergo quadruple bypass surgery, that is, to clear four clogged arteries. However, this is the first time since then that he had been taken to the hospital for some heart problem.
According to the reports from close family circles, the former American president had to be rushed to the hospital after he complained of suffering from chest pains. The discomfort had been continuing from some days prior to his admittance, and tests conducted in the hospital showed that one of the coronary arteries had become totally clogged. However, the 63-year-old diplomat handled the matter well despite suffering from chest pains and respiratory problems, according to his advisers. Apparently, he had walked to the hospital on his own, and had also attended a telephonic conference regarding earthquake relief while being taken into surgery.
Cardiologist Allan Schwartz said that Bill Clinton is in perfect health after the surgery, and that he would most probably be released on Friday. Two stents were paled in the blocked artery, following which, it was reported, the patient was “in good spirits.” The doctors assured that there was no sign that he had suffered a heart attack, and that his illness had no connection to his current diet.
