Varanasi, March 14 (IANS) Benaras Hindu University (BHU) is all set to confer honorary D.Litt. degrees on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, artist Satish Gujral and historian Irfan Habib at a convocation here Saturday. While Manmohan Singh, arriving here Friday afternoon, will attend the function, Gujaral and Habib will be honoured in absentia.

The BHU administration has prepared a detailed presentation to highlight the academic achievements of one of India’s oldest universities.

While 6,454 degrees are to be given away at the university’s 90th convocation, the prime minister will present the Chancellor’s Gold Medal and the BHU Medals to 29 toppers in various disciplines.
