Beijing restaurant basks in Biden’s visit fame
August 20th, 2011 - 7:25 pm ICT by IANSBeijing, Aug 20 (IANS) A nondescript restaurant in Beijing became famous overnight after US Vice-President Joe Biden and his entourage visited the eatery this week.
Biden and his entourage walked into Yao’s Chao Gan Thursday and ordered five bowls of Beijing noodles with soybean paste, 10 steamed buns, smashed cucumber salad, mountain yam salad, shredded potatoes and Coca Cola.
The meal cost 79 yuan ($12.37).
Demand for noodles with soybean paste shot up four times at the eatery after Biden’s visit, the China Daily reported Saturday quoting the Beijing Morning Post.
Some customers also came to order the 79 yuan “Biden set”, the report said.
