Jan 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The unexpected win of Republican candidate Scott Brown in Massachusetts has created ripples in the corridors of US politics. Winning the seat previously occupied by a leader like Ted Kennedy is no mean feat. This has not gone down well with the Democrats as one can expect. President Barack Obama took a dig at the Republican winner and bashed the truck owners including Scott Brown yesterday. He campaigned in Boston for Democrat candidate Martha Coakley and lashed out at Scott Brown by saying in a mocking manner that anyone can buy a truck. His speech was quite scathing and it was directed at the Republicans who are basking in the glory of the recent win.
However, Scott Brown did not take his criticism lying down. He retaliated by pointing out the amount of money spent on government affairs till President Barack Obama took the office. He said that in the present scenario not everyone can afford a truck and he wants to cut down on tax so that people can buy more. However, the president overlooked the fact that Scott Brown owns a GM truck and it is a company which is owned by the US government now.
As a matter of fact, Scott Brown owns a truck and he like to drive it as well. He thinks it has helped him to relate to people better. The truck fiasco aside, the win of Scott Brown in a prestigious seat is being seen by many as the reversal of fortune for the Democrats. It is high time that the Democrats rethink about implementing their upcoming policies and gauge the public opinion.
