Dec. 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) President of the United States, Barack Obama is in Oslo, in Norway, to collect the Nobel Peace prize. There has been enough criticism of the decision of the authorities in awarding him the most prestigious prize in the world, an honor that places him in the same rank as Mother Teresa and Nelson Mandela. The president himself accepted that he, on no account, can be considered to be of the same stature as those great personalities. In the face of all this criticism, the president has also caused to truncate the three day long ceremony as he would be able to stay for only a day in the Norwegian capital, causing much displeasure of the government and the organizers alike.
In reply to all the criticism, President Barack Obama gave the impression that he is not really bothered about all the criticism that he is facing, saying that it is not his concern to prove the critics wrong. However, he did express the hope that he would be able to nullify all the negative reviews in the future and that he would be able to reach his aims of securing a world free of nuclear weapons and tackle successfully the climate change problem.
President Barack Obama went on to say that his worthiness of the award that he is being honored with will not depend on any speech he makes, but on how much he is able to achieve. He admitted that if he failed in his goals, his award will not do anything to redeem his image and the truth will be out for everyone to see.
