Barack Obama and Senator Scott Brown are related

Boston, Jan 29 (THAINDIAN NEWS) US President’s party lost the crucial seat to Senator Scott Brown in Massachusetts, and now to rub the injury in, it turns out that both of them are related as well. The Genealogists said on Friday that the Democratic US President Barack Obama and the newly elected senator from Massachusetts, Scott Brown, are 10th cousins. The New England Historic Genealogical Society said that, “US President Barack Obama’s mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, and Brown’s mother, Judith Ann Rugg, both descend from Richard Singletary of Haverhill, Mass.” however he died in 1687 at the age of 102.
“I think it’s a really interesting thing, where you have the separation between a Democrat and a Republican, but you have one link,” said David Allen Lambert, the genealogist who co-discovered the connection with his colleague Chris Child. He said that it was relatively easy because they already had some prior information about the US President Barack Obama. “I’m glad to be in such distinguished company,” Brown said of the findings.
Two years ago, the society discovered that US President Barack Obama is related to seven prior presidents, including George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford, Lyndon Johnson, Harry S. Truman and James Madison. Besides this they also came to know that he has a Hollywood connection as well, because he was related to actor Brad Pitt.
