Bangalore police quiz Maudany
August 18th, 2010 - 3:54 pm ICT by IANSBangalore, Aug 18 (IANS) People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Abdul Nasir Maudany Wednesday spent his first day in Bangalore police custody answering questions on his alleged involvement in the 2008 Bangalore bomb blasts.
Maudany has been kept at an undisclosed place by the Bangalore police who late Tuesday secured his custody till Aug 26.
“We do not want to publicise where he is being detained. He is being interrogated,” a police spokesperson told IANS.
Maudany is the 31st of the 32 chargesheeted for carrying out the bomb explosions in Bangalore July 25, 2008. The eight blasts occurred in a span of 30 minutes, killing a woman and injuring 15 others.
The PDP chief was arrested Tuesday at his residence-cum-party office at Anwarassery in Kollam district in Kerala by the Karnataka Police with the help of Kerala Police. He has been charged with murder, waging war against the nation and carrying on unlawful acts.
He was brought to Bangalore late Tuesday and produced before the first Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Venkatesh Hulagi.
Though Bangalore police sought Maudany’s custody for 14 days, Hulagi allowed 10 days custody and directed the police to provide medical care and permit him to perform prayers and other religious activities.
Maudany has denied his involvement in the blasts.
