Ayodhya case: Muslims leaders to discuss future action Saturday
October 15th, 2010 - 9:07 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Oct 15 (IANS) The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) will take a final call on the question of taking the Ayodhya dispute to the Supreme Court in its meeting here Saturday, a member of its executive said Friday.
“The key question was to decide whether Muslims should move the apex court in appeal against the Sep 30 order of the three-judge special bench of Allahabad High Court. The board’s 51-member executive’s meeting to discuss this important issue was earlier scheduled to take place in New Delhi. However, subsequently it was decided to hold the meeting here,” Maulana Khalid Rasheed said.
The High Court had decided to divide the disputed 90 ft by 120 ft plot of Ayodhya land into three equal parts - one to the deity itself, one to the Nirmohi Akhara, and one to the Sunni Central Waqf Board.
Prominent among those who would attend the Saturday meeting are leading Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Sadiq, Maulana Salim Qasmi from Deoband, Maulana Nizamuddin from Bihar, Abdul Rahim Quraishi from Hyderabad and Qasim Rasul Illyasi from Delhi. AIMPLB president Maulana Rabe Hasan Nadvi, who is also rector of the influential Darul-uloom at Deoband, will preside.
Earlier, the Sunni Central Waqf Board had resolved to go into appeal against the order of the high court. However, since the AIMPLB is the highest decision making body with respect to religious rights of Muslims across the country, the final decision on the issue was left to it.
