Aung San Suu Kyi to be released
November 12th, 2010 - 3:54 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Nov 12 (IANS) Myanmar’s military junta Friday signed an order authorising the release of jailed pro-democracy leader and Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, a media report said.
BBC quoted reports from Myanmar as saying that the military had signed the release order.
The opposition leader has been detained for 15 of the past 21 years. Her last spell of house arrest expires Saturday.
BBC said there was an increase in police activity outside her home in Yangon.
