Attacked Kerala teacher records statement
October 1st, 2011 - 6:44 pm ICT by IANSThiruvananthapuram, Oct 1 (IANS) The chief judicial magistrate here Saturday took the statement of the brutally attacked school teacher whose rectum was pierced with an iron rod four days ago.
The gruesome incident took place Tuesday night, when Krishna Kumar was found in a badly injured state near Kottarakara, some 70 km from here. Highway police first took him to a local hospital there and he was later moved to the Medical College Hospital here as his condition was serious.
Apart from Magistrate A.M. Ashraf, the police also took Kumar’s statement and the entire process was videographed.
This issue rocked the Kerala assembly Friday and Speaker G. Karthikeyan had to wind up the day’s proceedings after the opposition alleged that R. Balakrishna Pillai, a jailed leader of the ruling Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), and his minister son K.B. Ganesh Kumar were behind the attack.
Incidentally, both Kumar and his wife K.R. Geetha work in the school that is managed and run by Pillai.
Geetha told reporters here that she was not allowed to remain with her husband when his statement was recorded.
“I do not have any faith in this investigation because I feel the present investigators appear prejudiced,” she said.
