Arizona Shooting Victim Gabrielle Giffords Responding To Commands, Doctors Say

Tucson, Jan 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Saturday, a shooting rampage at a meeting in supermarket in Arizona claimed the lives of 6 people and nearly 17 were injured. U. S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords was shot in his head and the law enforcement officials claim that she was the prime target of the shooting. However, a reputed media source reported that the U.S. Congresswoman was able to communicate with the doctors on Sunday though she is still in a precarious condition.
The chief of neurosurgery at University Medical Center in Tucson, Dr Michael Lemole told a reputed media source that the doctors at the hospital are encouraged by Gabrielle Giffords’ condition. A source, close to the hospital reported that the doctors had to undertake a brain surgery to remove the bullet. The doctors told that Gabrielle Giffords is lucky to be alive but they said that the Congresswoman would take months to recover. Dr Peter Rhee of University Medical Center told that when the bullet goes into the brain, the chances of living is very less and he is happy that Gabrielle Giffords is able to communicate.
Gabrielle Giffords remained on ventilator after she was admitted to hospital. The doctors, at the press conference told that they had to undertake a surgery within 38 minutes of her arrival in the hospital as her condition was serious. Doctors said that they had to remove half of her skull to get the bullet out and cure her from the devastating wound. However, though the doctors said that Gabrielle Giffords is responding to commands but her condition is critical and she is in a medically induced coma now. On the other hand, FBI director Robert Mueller has been called to investigate this gory incident of Arizona shooting. Assailant Jared Lee Loughner has been arrested and accused of shooting nearly 17 people.
