New Delhi, Nov 10 (IANS) A day after newly elected four legislators of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) assaulted Samajwadi Party member Abu Azmi for taking his oath in Hindi, a Delhi resident Tuesday moved the apex court seeking registration of a criminal case against MNS chief Raj Thackeray.
The lawsuit filed by Delhi resident Salek Chand Jain also sought the apex court ask the union government to approach the Election Commission of India to derecognise the regional outfit as a political party for its “sectarian and regional policies”.
Appearing for Jain, his counsel Sugreve Dubey apprised the bench of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan of his intention to file the lawsuit and sought its urgent hearing, saying that the MNS earlier had targeted north Indians residing in Mumbai and had sparked violence all over the country by whipping up parochial feelings.
The bench, however, asked him to first file his petition properly before seeking an urgent hearing.
