New Delhi, June 4 (IANS) Congress president Sonia Gandhi Wednesday finalised a seven-member team headed by Defence Minister A.K. Antony for formulating a strategy to strengthen the party and prepare it for the upcoming assembly elections and general elections in 2009. The team consists of cabinet ministers Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi and Manishankar Aiyer; Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad; and senior party leaders Digvijay Singh, Mukul Wasnik and Urmila Singh, Congress secretary Tom Vadakkan said here.

The Congress Working Committee (CWC), which met Saturday to assess the current political scenario, had suggested that Gandhi form a committee to suggest ways to revitalise the party.

The CWC had met in the wake of the party’s humiliating defeat in Karnataka polls last month.
