Nov 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a startling development that has sent waves in the political circles in India Konijeti Rosaiah the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister has resigned and his resignation has reached Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan as reports have poured in. A press conference was called hurriedly and the CM said that he is taking the decision owing to his advanced age. After attending the press conference the outgoing CM reached the Raj Bhavan with a number of his cabinet colleagues. He talked with the governor for 15 minutes and asked him to accept his resignation.
The new leader will be selected by the Congress Legislature Party soon. Last year Konijeti Rosaiah was sworn in as the CM of the state after the accidental demise of his predecessor YS Rajasekhara Reddy. The CM said in the pres conference “There is no specific reason. Because of my age and because of the situation I am not able to withstand.” He also added that he had asked for permission from the party high command and got green signal from them. He said that he was thankful to all Congress senior leaders for their help and co operation. The CM refused to answer who would be his successor and refuted the theory that there was any political pressure behind his resignation.
The outgoing CM also said that his age and mounting work pressure has compelled him to take this step. He said that he will extend a helping hand to his successor. The news of his resignation has created sensation in the media and the political allies and enemy parties of the Congress.
