Telangana New Delhi, Dec 11 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said no hasty decision will be taken on the issue of a separate Telangana state, say Congress MPs from the Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra regions who met him Friday.
As many as 20 Congress MPs, including union ministers, led by party leader K.S. Rao met the prime minister at his office in parliament house to raise apprehensions on carving out Telangana from Andhra Pradesh.

“The prime minister has assured us that no hasty decision will be taken on this issue. He said the matter will be discussed in the Congress core committee meeting expected later Friday,” Rao told reporters later.

Leaders from the Andhra and Rayalaseema regions are opposed to the break up of Andhra Pradesh.

The central government announced late Wednesday that the process had been set in motion for carving out Telangana state. This came after Telangana Rashtra Samiti leader K. Chandrasekhara Rao went on a fast unto death to press for a separate Telangana.
