Alvin Greene Asked To Step Down From Senatorial Race On Obscenity Charges

South Carolina had nominated a candidate for the Senatorial race who is currently facing obscenity charges, although they were not aware of it.
However, when they did come to know about the fact that he had been facing the charges, they are trying to get him off the nominations list. However, looks like the damage has already been done.
He had won with an overwhelming majority over the Democratic candidate, Vic Rawl, who is a former judge. While Vic Rawl had been an immensely funded candidate, Alvin Greene, on the other hand, did not even pretend to have had an election campaign. Therefore, it was indeed quite surprising when he emerged as the winning party, and that too at such a huge margin.
Democrat Alvin Greene is at present facing charges of showing pornography to a young student. He has not yet appealed for the sentence, and has not been indicted.
Apparently, the woman had run on Alvin Greene in her university campus, at the University of South Carolina, where he had shown her some obscene pictures in his computer, and after that, he had also hinted at going to her room. After that, she had not spoken to the media, until she found out that Alvin Greene had been nominated the Democratic candidate for the city.
Alvin Greene, on the other hand, has said that he would not be stepping away from the race, and said that he would be facing the incumbent United States Senator Jim DeMint in the coming elections in November.
He had been asked by Carol Fowler, the chairwoman of the Democratic party in the state of South Carolina, to step down from the race.
