All-party meet ends with appeal to Hazare
August 24th, 2011 - 7:56 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 24 (IANS) The all-party meeting called to discuss the Lokpal bill concluded Wednesday after three hours deliberations with an appeal to Anna Hazare to call off his nine-day fast.
The government is learnt to have said at the meeting, held at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s official residence, that the withdrawal of the Lokpal bill was impossible.
In his opening remarks, the prime minister said the government was for a strong, independent Lokpal.
