Alexander Haig Passes Away At 85

Baltimore, Feb 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Alexander Haig passed away in Baltimore, at the Johns Hopkins Hospital on Saturday, Feb 20. According to close sources, the former Chief of Staff of the White House was surrounded by his family and friends at the time of his death. Alexander Haig was 85 years of age when he died. Alexander Haig is survived by his two children, son Alexander Haig, and daughter Barbara. According to spokesman Gary Stephenson, the diplomat passed away at around 1:30 in the morning. No official cause of the death has been proffered.
Ever since the news of his death has passed on, condolences have been pouring in to the bereaved family. Added to that, there have also been numerous remembrances in honor of the man who had been effectively in charge of the government for a long period, some of them coming from the President himself. President of the United States, Barack Obama, remembered Alexander Haig as one of the finest public servants ever, and called him an example of the tradition of “warrior-diplomats.” The current Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, also praised the deceased Alexander Haig as a man who had served his country in multiple capacities. Incidentally, Alexander Haig too had held the post of the Secretary of State.
Alexander Haig was known for his blunt approaches. He had been the aide to President Richard Nixon at the time of the Watergate scandal, possibly his most effective duty till date. He had also held the post of the Supreme Allied Commander with the NATO forces, and was known for his conservative beliefs and policies laced with a very military like attitude.
