AIUDF to campaign for RLD in UP elections
January 31st, 2012 - 7:21 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 31 (IANS) All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) president Maulana Badruddin Ajmal Tuesday said he would campaign for Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) candidates in the forthcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing a joint press conference here with RLD leader Ajit Singh, Ajmal said: “We will do door-to-door campaigning for RLD in these elections.”
Ajmal, who is a Lok Sabha MP from Dhubri, Assam, said Singh had campaigned for AIUDF during the Assam assembly polls and he was reciprocating the gesture.
He, however, made it clear that he would campaign only on seats that the RLD is contesting and not for its alliance partner Congress. AIUDF is in opposition in Assam, where the Congress is in power.
Singh said Ajmal’s campaigning will make a big impact.
