New Delhi, Dec 9 (IANS) The Indian Air Force Wednesday ordered an inquiry into President Pratibha Patil’s helicopter rotor blades grazing an abandoned building after landing at the airport in Bhubaneswar.
“We have ordered a court of inquiry into the incident. There is no time frame to the inquiry,” an air force spokesman told IANS here.
The official said it was an MI-8 chopper with 10 people aboard, including President Patil and four crew members. The chopper had landed and was taxing when its rotor blades brushed against an abandoned building. All those on board the chopper were safe.
The incident happened at 5.05 p.m. when the Indian Air Force helicopter was returning to Bhubaneswar from the temple town of Puri carrying the president, who had come to Orissa Tuesday on a three-day visit.
The official added that the air force personnel were ascertaining the damage to the chopper.
