Blagojevich Corruption Probe Illinois, July 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Embattled former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich used to avoid important meetings with his budget director by hiding in the bathroom or back room and sometimes sneaking out of his office, according to his former deputy on Thursday.

Robert Greenlee, who is the ex deputy Governor, said that Blagojevich knew nothing about the daily state affairs and only spent 8 hours or less a week in his office. The Governor normally stayed at home or attended functions instead of being in his office.

The former deputy governor said he always had to phone his boss to discuss important affairs and had to discuss an emergency state law with the governor over dinner at a bowling alley. Blagojevich also wanted to be part of the Obama government even though he was not invited to the victory rally in 2008.

The Governor pleaded not guilty to trying to get a more lucrative job and extorting money from businessmen for his election campaign. In court, he looked arrogant and said to spectators “I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again — innocent of all charges.” He’s also been accused of trying to get Rev. Jesse Jackson to the Senate in order to raise more campaign funds.
