Chennai, Jan 14 (IANS) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, L.K.Advani Saturday tried to woo Tamil Nadu’s ruling AIADMK, terming it a “natural ally”.
Speaking at the 42nd anniversary function of Tamil weekly Thughlak, Advani termed AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa as a natural ally of the BJP.
He said the cooperation extended to the BJP by the Tamil Nadu chief minister and her party makes us feel “AIADMK is our natural ally”.
Though AIADMK is not part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), there is an informal co-operation with the former, Advani said.
He added the floor coordination between the two parties in parliament is growing.
Praising Jayalalithaa’s rule in Tamil Nadu since May, Advani said he is seeing change and increasing confidence.
He said the country needs more transformational leaders like Jayalalithaa and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of the latter at the function.
Referring to Jayalalithaa’s remarks at the National Development Council about weakening of the federalism, he said the BJP shares her views.
Praising Modi’s work in Gujarat, Advani said as a senior partyman, he was pleased with the hard work put in by the former.
On his part, Modi attacked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s government’s failure on the economic front.
Earlier Thuglak editor Cho Ramaswamy said AIADMK and BJP should join hands to provide good governance in the country.
