New Delhi, Jan 21 (IANS) Responding to L.K. Advani terming Manmohan Singh as a weak prime minister, the Congress Friday described the senior BJP leader as an “eternal PM in waiting” and said there was “desperation” in his “wild and baseless charges”.
Party spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that the prime minister was a man of integrity and a man the nation looks up to.
Terming Advani as an “eternal PM in waiting”, Singhvi said “he had neither patience to wait nor was willing to learn lessons of history”.
“Time and again, BJP and Advani have tried technique of baseless attack on the prime minister. Each time a crisp political slap was given by people of this country to such attacks,” he said.
Singhvi said the whole country knows that the BJP’s wireless remote originates in Nagpur (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh headquarters).
“The country knows, the smallest incident has the BJP accosting, running helter and skelter either to Jhandewalan (RSS office in Delhi) or Nagpur… Nowhere in the world will you see such remote control,” he said.
He said the RSS masquerades as a “social and cultural organisation while pedalling politics. It does so to avoid accountability”.
Singhvi attacked Advani for failing to prevent terror incidents including the Akshardham and Raghunath temple attacks and Kandahar hijacking which happened during the rule of National Democratic Alliance government.
He said Advani’s “desperation is beginning to show in the wild and baseless attacks on a man of integrity whom the nation looks upto.”
Advani had Thursday attacked Manmohan Singh, saying he had never seen such a weak prime minister and compared the ruling dispensation to a Communist regime where the party supremo is more important than the head of government.
