Panaji, Oct 19 (IANS) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani will take up the illegal mining issue during his Goa stop-over in his nationwide roadshow, the Jan Chetna yatra, a party official said here Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters at the party headquarters in Panaji, Govind Parvatkar, BJP general secretary in charge of logistics of the Advani yatra in Goa, said Advani was “already aware of the Goa mining situation”.
“Additionally, we have briefed him about the mining scam in Goa. He will be taking it up during his yatra here Nov 1 and 2.
Advani’s first rally is scheduled for Nov 2 at Curchorem, a mining town 40 km south of here. Advani’s yatra will enter Goa from Karnataka, where the ruling BJP has had to face a lot of flak over illegal mining in connivance with its ministers at Bellary.
Central leaders of the BJP have accused Chief Minister Digambar Kamat of being responsible for a Rs.25,000 crore mining scam, even as state BJP leaders have often been reluctant to take it further.
