Lucknow, Oct 13 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani crossed over into Madhya Pradesh on the third day of his Jan Chetna yatra, after addressing rallies in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi and Mirzapur where he reiterated his call to wipe out corruption from public life.
Describing socialist stalwart Jai Prakash Narayan as his ideologue, he recalled with nostalgia his close association with another senior Jan Sangh leader Deen Dayal Upadhaya, who was found dead in mysterious circumstances near the railway tracks in Mughalsarai town several decades ago.
“Jai Prakash Narayan was among my key sources of inspiration and the more I got to know him, I wanted to increasingly becoming like him,” Advani told a gathering at Varanasi Thursday.
Referring to Upadhaya, he said: “While passing through Mughalsarai there were some very sad memories of Deen Dayal Upadhayaji’s sudden death there.”
He emphasized upon the need to imbibe the values preached and practiced by both Narayan and Upadhaya.
“I am confident that this rally of mine will serve its ultimate purpose of mobilising the masses of this country against the rampant corruption in governance and in building an environment to bring back the country’s black money staked in foreign banks,” he added.
Crossing over into Madhya Pradesh, Advani reached Satna town where he will spend the night.
