Chennai, Sep 1 (IANS) The BJP Saturday said will continue to disrupt parliament over the coal blocks allocation, asserting that mere debate in the house by the Congress-led UPA government will be meaningless without action and accountability for the decisions taken.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader M. Venkaiah Naidu said his party will not allow parliament to function till Prime Minister Manmohan Singh resigns, as the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has quantified that the nation has lost around Rs.1.85 lakh crore ($37 billion) in coal block allocations to private players.

Naidu told newspersons here that BJP would take the issue to the people till their three demands - resignation of the prime minister, cancellation of the allocation of 142 coal blocks and auctioning them and setting up an independent probe into the allocation - are met.

“We will continue to disrupt parliament till the prime minister submits his resignation. We are firm on our demand,” Naidu said categorically.

He also cited demands made by the Samajwadi Party to cancel coal block allocations and set up a fair probe.

According to him, only after the BJP stalled parliament did former telecom minister A. Raja, prime accused in the Rs.1.76 lakh crore 2G scam, resign and the charge sheet against him and others were filed.

Naidu said the government should resign as it is bogged down by series of scams and it has also failed on other fronts like economy and agriculture.

“Let the people decide. The burden is on the government to end the deadlock,” Naidu remarked.

He added that the BJP is ready to face the people while the Congress is not.
